We're a hands-on STEM academy in Mississauga built on one belief: every child has a natural curiosity about how things work β we just give them the tools, the space, and the encouragement to find out.
Curiosity, creativity, and opportunity should be within everyone's reach.
β Farah Ubaid, FounderTinkerTrail was born from a simple observation: most kids never get to build anything real. They learn about circuits in textbooks, see robots in videos, and read about engineering β but they never get to wire, assemble, and actually make something work with their own hands.
We started TinkerTrail to fix that. Every session is a real project. Every kid leaves with something they made themselves. And every build is designed to make them want to come back and make something even more ambitious next time.
We're based at MindShare Workspace in Erin Mills Town Centre, Mississauga β a welcoming, supervised, indoor space where kids ages 6β14 can explore STEM through hands-on engineering, robotics, electronics and creative design.
Every concept is taught through doing. No passive learning β just real projects, real tools, real results.
We follow the child's interest. Sessions are designed to spark questions, not just deliver answers.
Small groups, background-checked instructors, and a warm environment where every child is seen.
No experience needed. No "STEM kids" only. Any curious child ages 6β14 belongs here.
Founder Farah Ubaid spent nearly 20 years teaching Computer Science, ICT and digital skills across diverse environments β from corporate training programs to school classrooms. The same question kept coming up: why aren't kids building real things?
Farah founded Affreej Elearning LLC, an online platform helping children and adults discover their talents through skill-based courses. It proved the model: the right format, the right content, and curiosity does the rest.
A new country, a new opportunity. With Mississauga's growing families and a clear gap in hands-on STEM education, TinkerTrail STEM Academy was born β a physical space where kids could build, create and discover every week.
TinkerTrail opened its doors at MindShare Workspace, Erin Mills Town Centre. Summer camps, drop-in workshops, and weekly Saturday programs launched β with hundreds of kids already building, tinkering and taking something home to show their families.
The Fall STEM Program kicks off September 5 β the first of three seasonal programs running through June 2027. 15 Saturdays, 10 real engineering builds, and a class of curious kids ready to make something amazing.
Three problems we set out to solve.
Kids learn about circuits, levers and code in school β but rarely get to wire a real circuit, build a working lever or write code that does something they care about. We close that gap.
School timetables don't allow for long build projects. We give kids 2 uninterrupted hours on a Saturday to focus on one project, from start to finished, working creation.
There is nothing like the look on a child's face when something they built with their own hands starts working. That moment of "I made this" changes how they see themselves and what they think they're capable of.
